Emily de Rango

Committee Member

Emily's fibre arts journey began when her grandmother taught her to crochet as a seven year old, launching a life long passion. She took up spinning four years ago, conveniently just in time to spend countless lockdown hours exploring the possibilities of turning fibre into yarn.

Emily's main spinning interest is in designing traditional yarns for garments and accessories that precisely fit their intended purpose.

Emily is involved in the Guild as a committee member, volunteer, workshop leader and her other fibre interests include knitting, sewing and rigid heddle weaving.

The Guild's aim is to bring together those who practise handweaving, spinning and allied crafts. To help and encourage them to increase their knowledge, understanding and skills by discussion, demonstration, exhibition, teaching and the provision of quality resource materials.

In the spirit of reconciliation the Handweavers and Spinners Guild of Victoria acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay respect to their elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people today.
