Rosie Knighton

Librarian

I started spinning in the late 1970's and subsequently weaving in the early 1980's. I graduated from the Melbourne College of Textiles in 1987 with the full Certificate of Applied Art - Weaving. I continued spinning whilst working full-time and returned to weaving after retirement. I spin, dye, weave, knit and crochet and find joy in learning something new about these crafts each day.

The Guild's aim is to bring together those who practise handweaving, spinning and allied crafts. To help and encourage them to increase their knowledge, understanding and skills by discussion, demonstration, exhibition, teaching and the provision of quality resource materials.

In the spirit of reconciliation the Handweavers and Spinners Guild of Victoria acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay respect to their elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people today.
